I don't think she'll ever exceed the excellence of the Unforgettable CD when it comes to classic jazzy tunes, however if you're a Natalie fan, you should add this to your collection. I would recommend it. I listened to Natalie's latest CD in 2008 shortly after its release. I later learned that Natalie wasn't in the greatest of health at the time of this recording but I still think she delivers.
Cole has proved she is aging like a fine wine (Both In Beauty & Vocally) and her recordings should ALWAYS reflect that. The songs are boring, Your vocal delivery lacks spark and there's simply no "Ear Candy" to be found on this project at all. Natalie, I love you and will always purchase whatever you record but for GOD SAKES stop singing with your dad. Still Unforgettable is one of your worst "Standards" project ever. Ms.
But some of the arrangements don't work well with her voice. Nice familar songs that one can sing along with while driving down the highway. Having listened to her over the years, I know that despite the aging voice and other problems, this could have sounded so much better with different arrangements.
Ms. I especially enjoyed the arrangements of Alan Broadbent on "But Beautiful", Pat Williams' "Until the Real Thing Comes Along, and of course "Something's Gotta Give" by Bill Holman. Although "Still Unforgettable" is not quite as good as the original "Unforgettable," it is excellent. Cole's innate musicality is profoundly abundant; her styling and time are top notch.
With yet another duet on this recording with her father, Natalie Cole has brought forth another great music collection of standards with an excellent band backing her. The producers of these recordings do such a great job of mixing the old vocal masters with a present day orchestra really bring this great music back to life.
